Tom Waits: Live At Atlanta's Fox Theater

We're still bummed that Tom Waits doesn't have any NY dates scheduled, but All Songs Considered has a great concert available for podcast from July 5. From All Songs Considered:

For his Atlanta stop, recorded at the city's historic Fox Theater on July 5, Waits delivered a stunning and epic two-and-a-half-hour performance, including songs he says he's never attempted outside of the studio before. Backing Waits is a five-piece group featuring Seth Ford-Young (upright bass), Patrick Warren (keyboards), Omar Torrez (guitars), Vincent Henry (woodwinds) and Casey Waits (drums and percussion). "They play with racecar precision and they are all true conjurers," Waits says. "They are all multi-instrumentalists and they polka like real men."

These were done without reference. I'm kind of obsessed with Batgirl (Babs in particular for unknown reasons, probably because she is a librarian but Helena gets under my skin too because i relate to her) even though I hate what's been done with the character and her reprises. I also screwed up Wonder Woman's tiara.

I'm still all about Marvel, though.

There are a lot of Mets fans at work. I'm sort of afraid to say anything. In fact, I feel weird writing about this right now. I'm so self-conscious to the point its aggravating.

Other than that, things are pretty horrible (but they are getting a little better). My stomach is sick all the time.

good god i am so tired. these were drawn a while ago, and they were done with reference. i'm not really doing that anymore because it has become a huge crutch. i think i've got some ideas for paintings but they are nothing special. i guess i have to recover from what i was doing at art school because its put me in such a panic.

i'm on the patch and i'm totally mellow. i sleep an awful lot, though. its finally sweater weather so i have a lot of long solitary walks to look forward to.

I am thinking about moving to Bay Ridge (or somewhere).

I don't want Chicago and I don't want Phillie, as great as those cities may seem. Home has always been within these state lines. I knew this when I had to leave, each and every time.

I am kind of a selfish asshole; I get tired easily. I can run for miles on my own accord, but stick me in a situation I can't deal with and I will straight up pass out on the floor. Its like selective Narcolepsy.

These are little drawings from the Mutter museum. They are quick and dirty and not very good, as I sensed the palpable annoyance of everyone around me in the cramped aisles. At least I am not such a jerk that I press my face against the glass and walk in front of people; I am quite aware of proper museum etiquette, and I make some space. Still, annoyance: very much aware of this.

Pratt and I are officially divorced (my attachment to this school is like a very sick relationship I guess). It happened last Wednesday, and just as I imagined divorce proceedings would go; it felt like it took forever, and it was difficult and sad and on the way back on the train my Sudoku batteries died.

I will come out of this alright. I will get a pink DS lite and I will have a snazzy little place in Bay Ridge (or somewhere), making forts and paintings and being happy. I've forgotten how wonderful it is to be somewhere no one knows (or cares) where you are.

When I was young and foolish I used to wish to be or know that I was needed somewhere. Now, I find that sort of sentiment kind of repulsive. I kind of just want to be far away from everything, writing letters (which are more sincere than email) and reading the internet (even though sometimes it makes me angry).

I did say I am kind of a selfish asshole. There's no self-deprecation here; only truth. Its much less complicated that way.

I'm sad today. Ingmar Bergman died and Dad went back to Canada.

Its too hot to do anything so I'm moping around, which is perfectly silly (I am aware). I made a little music and had a little sleep but its too hot and the fan makes too much noise and my dreams are very strange.

Might be going to Philadelphia for a few days. King Tut and the Mutter would ordinarily be very exciting but all I can think about is the pending thunderstorm that is about to interfere with my laundry day.

Much to my surprise, verizon gives us a little space to put things on the web. Therefor, I threw some stuff up here, just to keep things moving until I can get me some real hosting. I tried to install lightbox2, but it is not succeeding in my situation and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I suppose I'll sleep on it eventually. It is so hard to go to sleep when there's so much good music to listen to.

Also, last Wednesday was full of disasters (denial letters and floods among many other things), but things seem to be sorting themselves out. I won't be at Pratt next year, but I may be able to take my stuff somewhere else...provided some of the credits transfer. Even so, I'm a little bit relieved.

I just want a college diploma already. Its been a long, hard road.
